In a typical year, the PNE usually employs around 350 seasonal employees to bring Playland to life each summer, but this is no ordinary year for Vancouver. With the largest FIFA World Cup to date set to arrive this June, the PNE is looking to fill over 1,000 summer positions at Playland and the FIFA Fan Festival.
“As a part of this once-in-a-lifetime experience, you’ll have the opportunity to learn new skills, gain valuable work experience, and create lasting memories either as a part of the Playland or FIFA Fan Festival™ venue operational teams,” says the PNE on its career page.
Playland operates from May 16 to Sept. 7, 2026, while the FIFA Fan Festival runs from June 11 to July 19, 2026. While some summer roles may have some crossover between the two events, they operate separately at different locations within the PNE, so some positions may be exclusive to either one.
The PNE is hiring across its departments for both events, including Food & Beverage, Guest Experience, Ticketing, Games, Rides, Public Safety, Parking, and Grounds Clean-Up.
Pay and benefits
Seasonal roles start at $18.54 an hour, but it’s the perks that make these jobs stand out. Seasonal employees can enjoy discounts on passes to Playland, The Fair, and Fright Nights, as well as all the PNE food stands. They also get a free evening at Playland during Employee Family Night.
Employees also get access to free parking and gift card rewards, as well as career growth opportunities and promotions.
Who can apply?
Age requirements
All seasonal employees must be 15 years old by April 1, 2026, at a minimum. For select roles, the required age is higher.
Food & Beverage roles must be filled by those aged 15 or 19 years or older by April 1, 2026, which includes bartenders (19+), concessions attendants, catering cooks, catering prep cooks, candy attendants, stockpersons (valid Class 5 or 7 driver’s licence required), dishwashers, catering servers, Playland concessions attendants, Playland grill cooks, and Playland bussers.
Meanwhile, game attendants and games warehouse attendants must be 15 years old, while rides attendants must be 16 years of age or older.
Washroom facility attendants and grounds clean-up roles are 19+.
Availability requirements
In terms of availability, summer employees must be able to work three to four days per week, including evenings and weekends. Training for Playland positions begins at the end of April and runs through May, with the following mandatory training dates:
- April 24, 2026
- May 2, 2026
- May 3, 2026
- May 9, 2026
Additional mandatory training may be required for the FIFA Fan Festival, which will be shared with shortlisted candidates, according to the PNE.
Shift times will vary week to week, depending on position requirements.
How to apply
Ready to throw your hat in the ring? Applications are accepted online, with preference given to those who get their resumes in by Monday, March 9, 2026. However, the PNE notes that positions will remain open on its website until filled.
Those hired for the Playland season will also be required to work select dates in October for Fright Nights, and Playland employees with high work performances may be invited to work during the PNE Fair (Aug. 22 to Sept. 7, 2026).
