The prettiest lakefront villages and towns to visit in Ontario

30 May 20253 Mins Read

The weather is warming up — perfect for a road trip to the lake. The province is full of lakefront villages and towns, so why not plan a visit to one of these Ontario gems with summer just around the corner? We’ve narrowed down the very prettiest.

Nestled along the waters of Lake Erie, you’ll find Port Stanley.

This beach town is bustling in the summertime, but it is truly gorgeous at any time of year. Whether you just stroll the shores or check out one of the beach-front restaurants, you’re sure to have a great time.

Don’t forget to snap a pic of the iconic lighthouse at the marina.

Canada’s southernmost town is Kingsville, located along the shores of Lake Erie.

Pelee Island Winery is the area’s most popular attraction, situated right on the water. The views here are great in the summer, so you can admire the sights while you sip your wine.

Tobermory is a “harbour town” and is known for having some of the most jaw-dropping views in the province.

The Grotto is a must-visit while in Tobermory, located at Bruce Peninsula National Park.

Check out Fathom Five National Marine Park, where two dozen shipwrecks are available to explore, too.

Innisfil is the perfect lakefront town to visit if you don’t want to venture too far from Toronto, located just an hour and 20 minutes away by car.

Innisfil has 258 km of trails, eight golf courses, 399 acres of park and seven marinas to explore.

Head over to Friday Harbour while you’re visiting and check out some of the amazing restaurants such as Fishbone, Marine Room, Lake Club, Pier Bar, and Nest Clubhouse.

Grand Bend is one of Canada’s top beach towns, making it a great destination to visit at any time of year.

The town is along Lake Huron and has some adorable shops and restaurants on the main strip.

If you feel like staying awhile, make sure to hit up The Kiwi Motel – a gorgeous motel with Instagram-worthy rooms and a selection of amazing food and drinks.

Wellington is located in the beautiful Prince Edward County and is described as “a place you’ll never want to leave.”

The town is on the waters of Lake Ontario, and I recommend checking out one of the many wineries while you’re there, including Sandbanks Estate Winery, Karlo Estates Winery and Casa-Dea Estates Winery.

Just over two hours by car from Toronto, you can make it there and back in one afternoon.

These lakefront towns and villages are calling, Ontario! Start packing the car.
