The Red Sea EDITION has opened as the first hotel on Shura Island, Saudi Arabia, featuring 240 guest rooms and various amenities.
The Red Sea EDITION has commenced operations on Shura Island, located on Saudi Arabia’s western coastline. The hotel is the first to open on the island, which is part of a larger development initiative aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 to enhance its tourism sector.
The property includes 240 guest rooms, with 53 one- and two-bedroom suites. Amenities feature outdoor pools, a spa, a gym, and multiple dining options. The hotel is situated along a private beachfront, offering views of the Red Sea and proximity to Shura Links, an 18-hole golf course designed by Brian Curley.
The hotel features a design by Rockwell Group, incorporating natural materials like coral stone and oak, and focuses on integrating the architecture with the surrounding landscape. The design aims to reflect the natural environment, with indoor-outdoor transitions that emphasize views of the Red Sea and the island’s greenery.
Dining options at the hotel include a variety of venues offering global and local cuisine. The signature venue, ANASA, is scheduled to open in December and will be led by Saudi chef Basma Elkhereiji. The hotel’s culinary program emphasizes seasonal ingredients and wellness-focused offerings.
Additional facilities include a spa with treatments inspired by the local environment and a gym equipped for various fitness activities. The hotel also provides event spaces, including a grand ballroom and meeting rooms, with a total of over 1,000 square meters available for events.
The development of Shura Island is part of a broader strategy to establish Saudi Arabia as a luxury tourism destination. The island is set to host various resorts, marinas, and entertainment facilities. The Red Sea EDITION is part of a collaboration between Marriott International, EDITION Hotels, and Red Sea Global, focusing on sustainable and regenerative tourism practices.
