The Screaming of the Tyrannosaur Ending Explained

Picture: The Screaming of the Tyrannosaur – Netflix

For anyone confused about the ending to the seventh episode of volume 4 of Love, Death and Robots then allow us to help! We’ll also be covering the remaining episodes of volume 4 of Love, Death, and Robots, but here is the ending explained to The Screaming of the Tyrannosaur.

On Jupiter’s orbit, a gladiatorial arena awaits champions and dinosaurs in a deadly race, as the richest of the solar system watch from their golden thrones.

Ending Explained

Orbiting Jupiter and the moon of Europa, Lord Chalon of Europa and Duchess Saraka of Callisto are being celebrated at a ringed space station with a gladiator arena.

Six gladiators, marked by totems, begin a deadly race inspired by Emperor Claudius’s words: ” Those who are about to die, we salute you.” As the race begins, a herd of triceratops is released, and the gladiators find a way to ride them, all the while being watched by the aristocrats, Lord Chalon and Duchess Saraka. Multiple combatants die in spectacular ways, greatly appeasing the crowd.

When only two combatants are left, they are revealed to be lovers. Despite this, they continue to fight, dramatically ending with the woman being marked by the wolf totem and winning. However, the announcer reveals that there is one last contest for the champion, and a Tyrannosaurus Rex is released from below the arena and instantly eats the champion’s lover. Enraged by the death of her lover, she uses a triceratops to injure the Tyrannosaurus gravely, but it results in her being injured, and the death of the triceratops, sending the crowd wild.

In one last act of defiance, the champion and the Tyrannosaurus team up, charging towards the viewing platform where Lord Chalon and Duchess Saraka are seated. With one desperate leap into the air, the Tyrannosaurus successfully chomps Duchess Saraka. Meanwhile, the falling champion uses her chains to drag Lord Chalon to the sands below, killing him. The fall also results in the death of the champion and the Tyrannosaurus, but in their final moments, they look into each other’s eyes, finally freed from slavery by the sweet relief of death.

With the champion now dead, her soul is free, as she symbolically joins the five other combatants in the afterlife, where a pack of wolves, now freed, roam the beautiful snowy landscape together.

Why did Tyrannosaur team up with the champion?

Disgusted by the spectacle that had been put on display and used as puppets to appease the blood lust of the aristocracy, the pair found a mutual understanding as they stood together in the sand. All it took was a knowing look for the two warriors to work together to take down Lord Chalon and Duchess Saraka.

Is she dead?

The champion died of her injuries after falling from a great height when the Tyrannosaurus jumped and destroyed the viewing platform with Lord Chalon and Duchess Saraka. Her death can be seen as her finally being free from slavery, which is symbolised by the wolf pack racing across the snowy landscape at the end of the episode.
