Netflix has announced that filming is ongoing for its new German psychological thriller limited series, The Trap. It stars Friederike Becht as Lisa Konrad, a reclusive author who sets out from her home for the first time in ten years to use herself as bait against her sister’s murderer. We expect to see the 6-part series on Netflix sometime in 2026.
The Trap is an upcoming German Netflix Original psychological thriller film directed by Isabel Kleefeld, who also adapted the screenplay from Melanie Raabe’s novel. Kleefeld is also the creative producer.
Constantin Film is the production studio behind the film, with Tom Spiess and Friederich Oetker listed as producers. Meanwhile, Oliver Berben is the executive producer.
What is the plot of The Trap?
The series is centered on a beloved author, Lisa Konrad, a shut-in who hasn’t left her house in over ten years after witnessing the harrowing murder of her sister, Anna. But after believing she recognized the killer on television, she finally decides to leave the house to set a trap for her sister’s murderer by using herself as the bait.
Who is in the cast of The Trap?
Friederike Becht plays the role of Lisa Konrad, a renowned author who hasn’t left her house in nearly ten years, ever since she witnessed the murder of her sister Anna. Bacht has yet to star in a Netflix Original, and is most well known for acting in movies such as Labyrinth of Lies, Faster Than Fear, and The Reader.
Hans Löw plays journalist Robert Lenzen. The actor starred in the Netflix series Dear Child (Liebes Kind) as Gerd Bühling. He is most well-known for starring in films In My Room, Toni Erdmann, All Is Well, and I’m Your Man.

Matthias Brandt (Police Call 110) plays Norbert Rudow. Also in the cast is Miriam Ohlmeyer (Vexier), who plays Sophie. Josephine Thiesen (The Empress) as Lisa’s sister Anna, and Malaya Stern Takeda (The Assessment) as Lisa’s assistant Yuma. Anna Schudt (Push) and Michael Klammer (Cassandra) have also been cast.
