There’s just something about those Canadian cottages — everyone can’t stop talking about Sterling Point, the teen romance show set and filmed in Muskoka. While the plot is full of gasp-worthy moments and dramatic twists, the overall show vibes are totally cozy and nostalgic (thanks in part to a convenient little plot point where there’s pretty much no service on the island, we never see any characters clutching phone and conversations never occur in annoying little text boxes overlaid on the screen). Part of that cottagecore coziness is the fashion; oversized crewnecks, cute little white tanks and gen Z-approved jorts make for an approachable yet covetable summer wardrobe.
Costume designer Marissa Schwartz has been sharing key pieces from Annie’s (Ella Rubin) wardrobe, as well as Oona (Bo Bragason), Ramona (Amélie Hoeferle), Ellis (Canadian Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie), Rory (Daniel Quinn-Toye) and more. So we’ve broken down how you can achieve a totally Sterling Point aesthetic here in Toronto.
How to dress like Annie
In Schwartz’s breakdown of Annie’s style, she noted that she went for trendy New York brands for the (former) city girl combined with more classic teen brands like Ardene and Urban Outfitters. There are some outliers, of course — like the famous white lace Chanel dress Annie wears in episode two.
Generally, though, she wears a lot of denim, including the episode one pair from NYC brand Still Here — and you can find almost the exact same style from the brand here in Toronto at TNT. She’s also known for her simple yet stylish basics, ranging from tanks to T-shirts, and many of them are from American Eagle and Aerie (including that iconic blue tube top she wears out clubbing). But some her basics are definitely more New York-cool (with New York prices), like a charcoal tank top she wears in episode four that you can find here in Toronto in Rosedale straight from the source (James Perse). Same with a simple white T-shirt she wears in episode three, which happens to sell for $155 from the brand Flore Flore and can be found at Queen West’s Absolutely Fabrics.
If you’re looking for that black one-piece she wears in the sauna, it’s from swimwear brand Vitamin A — and Toronto shop Sandpipers has more than one similar black one-piece in stock from the brand.
As for accessories, Annie certainly leans high-end: Coach is frequently found on her shoulder, including the white Hamptons Hobo Bag (currently sold out on the site, but available second-hand on Poshmark) she wears during the outdoor movie night and the Brooklyn Shoulder Bag she lugs all across the island in episode two. If you’ve been coveting her ’90s-style black sunglasses, good luck: they currently sell for $710 on the Chanel site.
How to dress like Oona
World traveller Oona has a style sensibility that is certainly louder than Annie’s, favouring funky printed tops, bikinis and a ton of vintage. One such bikini top is from Toronto brand Bareminimale; the exact rainbow plaid patterned one she’s wearing is still available on the site ($110). Most key pieces from the rest of her wardrobe were sourced from vintage shops, though if you’re looking for some specific inspiration, Oona leans more sporty — look for Nike, Champion and Harley Davidson and some more fun prints like camo (Relocation Vintage on Dundas West would be a great place to start).
Another key Oona outfit staple: her platform orange Crocs! The same style is available in a few funky colours at Soft Moc right now. And we can’t forget her funky chambray cow shirt; while it is vintage, the brand is More & More, and they happened to make more than a few novelty embroidered denim shirts — so they’re not impossible to find. What might be most key to Oona’s entire look, though, are her fistfuls of silver rings: trust Silver with Attitude in Kensington Market to have your knuckles decked out like Oona’s in no time.

Ramona’s styling is a masterclass in cottage dressing — she’s lived in Muskoka her whole life, and you can tell. She prioritizes comfort and practicality over fashion, though the result is still pretty fashionable! Vintage menswear, sporty shorts and sandals and cozy sweaters are key here. Ramona owns multiple pairs of Birkenstocks and a very cottage-appropriate pair of Blundstone clogs. If she’s not wearing vintage Nike or Champion sports shorts, she’ll opt for Levi’s jorts (particularly the Baggy Dad Jorts in a light wash) or these Edikted Oversize Low Rise Denim Bermuda Shorts. You can’t find Edikted in Toronto right now, but the style directive is clear: baggy, low rise and long.
Her perfectly oversized sweaters incite sweatshirt envy, so of course they’re vintage — including an orange Banana Republic zip-up hoodie that everyone is desperate to replicate and a St. John’s Bay jumper, which is luckily an easy brand to search for in vintage stores.
Of course, Ramona’s still a teenager, so you’ll still spot her in a few more popular brands, including her very cool rectangular sunglasses from Pacsun, a red American Eagle tank and a washed grey T-shirt from Zara. Surprisingly, her grey crewneck from episode five isn’t actually vintage — it’s the College Sweatshirt from American brand The Great, which you can actually find at Mala Boutique in Toronto right now for a whopping $305.
How to dress like the boys

Love triangle participants Rory and Ellis have pretty classic teen boy style: baggy shorts, simple T-shirts, pullovers and battered sneakers. But their individual style choices say a lot about their characters: Ellis dresses in outdoorsy, practical brands such as Carhartt, workout wear brand PrAna, Mountain Equipment Company and even vintage Patagonia. Rory’s style, instead, leans much more preppy, sporty and almost entirely high-end. Bode is a favourite for him, including these striped trousers and a graphic T-shirt that might read, vintage, but really retails for $545. Even the simple white T-shirt gets an upgrade for Rory; his is Balmain branded. While the current style is sold out directly from the brand, you can find similar versions at Harry Rosen, if you’re willing to shell out $500. We have to give Rory credit for two local pieces in his wardrobe: his bright red swim trunks are actually from Toronto brand Bather for a reasonable $115, and two sweaters he wears are from Muskoka brand Seasonal Resident (the exact styles are currently unavailable, but this one is pretty similar).
