13 May 20252 Mins Read

They say that everyone should learn at least one new thing a day, and thanks to the University of Alberta, that will be incredibly easy this spring.

From dinosaurs and space to history and bugs, the U of A offers a ton of exciting and informative on-demand courses, meaning you won’t need to apply for access or even a student loan.

In addition to being offered through a reputable school, these classes are not only engaging but free to take as well, thanks to their partnership with Coursera.

What to know

Interested in signing up? Your brain is in for quite the treat.

“The U of A is proud to offer free open online courses to the community,” it explains on its website.

“At home or on the go, these courses are a great resource for keeping ourselves and our families learning and having fun.”

Whether you’re already a student or just believe that knowledge is power, here are all 19 programs being offered right now:

How to register

If something catches your eye, signing up is pretty easy.

All you have to do is select “register now” in the description box, press enroll, and make an account.

Unless you’re hoping to earn a certificate, all the learning material, which was likely assembled by a professor at the University of Alberta, is cost-free, so check it out.

You never know, one of these courses could spark something bigger.

There’s only one way to find out.

Enjoy and happy absorbing!
