KPop Demon Hunters, the animated action movie that Netflix casually dropped in June, is 2025’s biggest phenomenon. Sony, seemingly with little faith, sold the movie to Netflix early in development, and like every Netflix Original not based on an preexisting IP, it arrived with little fanfare. Quality won out: KPDH became Netflix’s biggest movie of all time, and the hype will continue through to what feels like an inevitable animation and song win at the 2026 Oscars. But first: complete Halloween domination.
Based on the zillion costumes worn by pop groups Huntr/x (“Huntrix”) and the Saja Boys throughout KPop Demon Hunters, maybe it was obvious. But it wasn’t until I sat in on one of Netflix’s sing-a-long theatrical events, where audiences young and old belted their way through the hit single “Golden” without missing a beat, did I realize: Yup, this is happening. The KPop Demon Hunters characters are going to run wild in my suburban neighborhood come trick or treat night.
A quick check on Etsy suggests the KPDH cosplay economy is grinding at full force, and cheap Baby Saja wigs are selling like hotcakes on Chinese sites like AliExpress. It’s everything you expect, including cozy iterations on Derpy the blue demon tiger. But I have to give Netflix itself props: While the company may not have anticipated the KPop mania ahead of release, the streamer’s official store is chock-full of higher quality costumes and merch, as well as one item that is just so bonkers it deserves a shout.
Retailing for $39.95, and available in sizes XS to XXL, the KPop Demon Hunters “Abby Saja Abs” T-shirt is a disturbingly accurate rendering of the ripped demon boy band member’s eight-pack. If you walk out like this at Halloween, expect onlooker eyes to turn to popcorn.
The big question surrounding KPop Demon Hunters is does anyone interested in strutting down the block in recognizable Huntr/x and/or Saja Boys fits have time to assemble the parts? The official Netflix Shop promises to deliver current stocked items in 5-8 business days, while expedited shipping can zip it over in 3-5 business days. That’s plenty of time — for now. And with tariffs and other shipping mishegoss making the timeline of an AliExpress or Temu delivery more of a variable, Netflix might be the most reliable bit in the end (unless you can get your Etsy vendor to vow delivery in the next 27 days).
Still, a true cosplayer would tell you: You have time to make it yourself! And the TikTokers and Reelmakers are working overtime on the tutorials.
Frankly, an Abby Saja abs look might be the KPop Demon Hunter equivalent of a Big Johnson T-shirt (i.e., extremely embarrassing instead of sickly funny). Only time will tell. For a lower risk option, go for your own homemade Rumi wig instead.
