The Westin Playa Vallarta Appoints Alex Andrade as Area General Manager

The Westin Playa Vallarta, an All-Inclusive Resort, has appointed Alex Andrade as area general manager. Andrade will oversee the resort’s 714 associates and guide its team following the property’s conversion to an all-inclusive resort.

Andrade most recently served as area managing director in Cancún and previously was vice president of operations, field, for Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection. His career includes senior leadership and operations positions across Mexico, the Caribbean and the United States.

His prior work includes positions with Viceroy Los Cabos, Sheraton Old San Juan Hotel in Puerto Rico, Yacht Haven Grande in St. Thomas, AMResorts and Playa Hotels & Resorts. He has more than four decades of hospitality industry experience, including resort operations, all-inclusive hospitality and team leadership.

At The Westin Playa Vallarta, Andrade will focus on guest experience and team culture as the property continues to evolve following its conversion to an all-inclusive resort. The conversion was a factor in his decision to join the property.

The property’s recent transformation introduced 281 redesigned accommodations, including 30 private plunge pool suites and 16 adults-only swim-up rooms. It also added culinary concepts, including Agave Studio, where guests can participate in small-batch mezcal tastings focused on Mexico’s agave culture.

Andrade is a Chicago native who resides in Puerto Vallarta. He attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
