The Witcher Announces Exciting New Crossover With Major Game Franchise

26 August 20263 Mins Read

Aug. 25 was an exciting day for Witcher 3 fans, as Gamescom’s Opening Night Live revealed that a remaster of the iconic RPG is coming ahead of the much-anticipated Songs of the Past DLC. And the best part is that it’ll be available for free for those who already own The Witcher 3. This gives veterans a chance to revisit this story and prepare for the upcoming expansion pack, and it encourages brand-new players to finally pick up The Witcher 3. But that wasn’t the only piece of exciting news revealed this Tuesday.

CD Projekt Red announced a partnership with Blizzard Entertainment, which will include a Geralt skin for Diablo 4, plus The Witcher 3 landing on Blizzard’s platform, Battle.net.

According to CD Projekt Red’s PR director, the two companies have always been deeply connected, and this collaboration has been “three decades in the making.” CD Projekt was the official Blizzard Entertainment distributor in Poland back in 1998, bringing the studio’s games to CDPR’s home country. Now, the roles are somewhat reversed, as it is Blizzard that will be bringing CD Projekt Red’s game to its platform. The Witch 3: Wild Hunt Remastered releases on Battle.net on Sept. 29, like on any other platform, and is now available for preorder.

CD Projekt Red’s community and social media manager has revealed that this is “just the beginning” of CDPR’s partnership with Blizzard. While we don’t know much about what else is to come from this partnership, we do know that Blizzard has joined forces with CDPR to create a Diablo 4 skin inspired by the one and only Geralt of Rivia. Players who preorder Songs of the Past, The Witcher 3‘s upcoming expansion pack, on Battle.net will receive the skin as a gift.

The DLC is expected to release in 2027. It currently doesn’t have an exact release date, but once pre-orders go live, so will the Diablo 4 skin. Thankfully, it isn’t a pre-order exclusive; the skin will remain available to anyone who purchases Songs of the Past after release. The skin has not been shown yet. That reveal is reserved for BlizzCon 2026, which takes place on Sept. 12–13 in Anaheim, California. Players should be sure to check it out at the event or keep a lookout on social media for more details on those days.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered is set to launch on Sept. 29, 2026. It will be available on Steam, GOG.com, Epic Games, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Switch 2, and Battle.net.
