The world’s largest multicultural celebration takes place in Edmonton every summer

12 June 20263 Mins Read

Edmonton Heritage Festival is one of the city’s best celebrations, and it’s back in its prime location for this year.

With over 100 international awards, this heritage festival is one of the largest in the world, according to the fest. For the summer, you can experience three days of this multicultural extravaganza. It has won over 100 awards and is deemed an “intangible cultural asset” by UNESCO. This means it could be considered one of the most important festivals within the city.

If you’re ready to immerse yourself in the rich diversity of Edmonton this summer, there’s no better place to be.

What to expect

After Hawrelak Park was closed for renovations, the festival temporarily moved to a new location at Edmonton Exhibition Lands and Borden Park. Now that the renovations are done and the park is back open, we can enjoy the festival in its stunning original spot.

Last year had some amazing performances, more than 900 in fact! There’s an endless amount of folk dances and cultural movements taking over the stage; you won’t be able to walk through the park without missing one.

An important thing to note: there are no admission fees to enter or watch any of the cultural shows and dances. Instead, you’ll be able to support the festival by purchasing food made by the pavilions. This means the festival is free to enter, and you’re free to enjoy all that it has to offer. Not to mention, there’s also a great amount of crafts and souvenirs you can buy from the many pavilions around Hawrelak Park.

In my opinion? The best part is the food. I could actually stuff my face full at this festival each year, and I wouldn’t ever get tired. With the options and the variety of flavours, it’s an opportunity you can never pass up.

There is an endless amount of things to do and see at the Edmonton Heritage Festival. With it back in its original location this year, we can only expect the biggest and best comeback of the century.

Let’s give the festival a warm welcome back to its home this summer. I’ll definitely be there, will you?

When: Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, to Monday, Aug. 3, 2026
Time: TBA
Where: Hawrelak Park — 9330 Groat Rd. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
Cost: Free
