There are dozens of jazz concerts happening across Edmonton for this international festival

18 June 20263 Mins Read

The Edmonton International Jazz Festival is coming up fast, and there’s going to be loads of shows for folks to watch across the city.

If you aren’t familiar, the Edmonton International Jazz Festival goes all the way back to 2005. Originally named the “Yardbird Jazz Festival,” according to the festival’s website, the celebration evolved year after year before finally becoming the event we know and love today in 2007.

With a dual focus of bringing the world’s greatest jazz musicians to perform in our city and shining the spotlight on Edmonton’s own emerging jazz talent, there’s no question why this festival has continued its run for over 20 years.

Starting tomorrow, June 19, until June 28, jazz is going to be taking over all of Edmonton. If you’re even remotely interested in the plethora of concerts coming up, we’ve got the information you’ll need to be a part of the festivities.

What to expect

Throughout these 10 days, there are going to be a bunch of shows going on at multiple locations. Some are paid, some are free, but it all depends on where you’re deciding to go.

If you want to take a look at the full schedule for the 2026 festival, you can find it online on its website. Tickets are also available now, so you can

However, I’m going to take the chance to highlight the free part of the festival. Who doesn’t love a free concert?

On Saturday, June 27, at Sir Winston Churchill Square, the sounds of jazz will be filling the space.

For free, you can watch one or more of the three concerts being featured on stage for all to witness. Whether it’s the Dave Babcock Quintet at noon, Maria Manna and the International Women of Jazz at 1:30 p.m., or Pure Octane at 3 p.m., all these shows will be absolutely unforgettable.

I haven’t forgotten about the Le Cité Francophone patio stage, either, which will also feature free shows for intimate audiences. Depending on the day, you can see Pazzport, Poly Pocket, or more fantastic artists.

This festival doesn’t come around more than once a year. So, you won’t want to miss your chance to be a witness to all these incredible performers. Get a ticket, enjoy some music, and continue to support the local festivals that build Edmonton’s creative scene.

When: Friday, June 19, to Sunday, June 28, 2026
Time: Various times
Where: Various locations
Cost: Free
