There’s a new music festival coming to Edmonton taking place right by the river

14 August 20263 Mins Read

Down by the River is one of Edmonton’s newest music festivals, coming in for its official second year by bringing more music and magic to the river valley this September.

Following an incredible inaugural year, this festival is back for more riverfront action. From Sept. 18 to Sept. 20, this three-day musical celebration will take over Louise McKinney Riverfront Park. From 1 p.m. each day onwards, the park will be lit up with performances, a market, food and drink opportunities, and more.

Bring a blanket, grab your friends, and get ready to enjoy a full weekend of performances in the heart of the city.

What to expect at Down by the River

Taking place at Louise McKinney Riverfront Park, Down by the River is an all-ages celebration blending indie, folk, rock, and alternative sounds in a relaxed atmosphere. With a curated lineup of artists from around the world, you’re sure to get a taste of all kinds of music.

The music is the main part of the festival. This means an excellent lineup of artists comes into the city for this exciting event. Some of the folks on the lineup include the growing Goldie Boutilier, Jed & the Valentine, Vincent Neil Emerson, and many more fantastic performers. To find the full lineup of artists gracing the festival, check out Down by the River’s website online or socials for the list.

If you want a drink? No problem. With a new name and a little upgrade this time around, the Sea Change Saloon is going to be stocked with cold ones all weekend long, ready to welcome folks back to the grounds.

During the fest, you’ll also be able to explore the Honky Tonk Market. Here, you’ll be able to explore incredible western vintage wear, handmade goods, and a variety of goods from local makers. If you want to get yourself in the mix, the market is still accepting vendors; so, don’t walk, run!

How can I get tickets to Down by the River?

Tickets are available online for purchase, so there’s no reason to wait!

As for prices, the first ticket tiers have already sold out, meaning prices have gone up a little bit. One-day passes start at $75 and go up to $95, with a three-day weekend pass only costing $165.

Each ticket tier is already sold out by over 50 per cent. If you want a chance at heading down to the river, we’d suggest grabbing up your tickets as soon as possible. This riverside festival only comes once a year, so you’ll definitely want to check out what they have in store.

When: Friday, Set. 18, to Sunday, Sept 20, 2026
Time: Starting at 1 p.m. each day
Where: 9999 Grierson Hill NW, Edmonton, Alta.
Cost: $75+
