There’s a popular Ontario town recognized as one of Canada’s Historic Places

2 July 20253 Mins Read

There’s a reason people flock to this Ontario town year-round! Collingwood is two hours north of Toronto by car, known for its beautiful Blue Mountain Resort and all the small-town charm you hope to find when you leave the city.

The downtown core here is so great that it’s recognized among Canada’s Registrar of Historic Places.

Let’s start with the downtown core that visitors and locals know and love.

According to the town’s website, “Downtown Collingwood might just surprise you with 30 plus restaurants, 60 plus boutique shops, spas for relaxing, live music for grooving.”

Between all the yummy restaurants, historic redbrick buildings, and amazing shops, the downtown core earned its spot on the Registrar of Historic Places for Canada.

If you need help narrowing down spots to check out, some local favourites include Bent Taco, Fig and Feta, and Northwinds for a bite to eat, or Metra Fashion House, Okay Alright, and The Daisy Chain for some shopping.

The town is also known as a “gateway to the South Georgian Bay region.” Sunset Point Park, Princeton Shores, Millennium Park, and Harbourlands Park/Harbour are just a few of the waterfront areas you can stroll or cozy up to watch the sun go down.

Of course, we can’t mention Collingwood without talking about its largest tourist attraction — Blue Mountain Resort.

While Blue Mountain Resort is popular in the winter as a ski hill, summers there are just as fun.

The resort has no shortage of things to do in the warm months, including a private beach, mini putt, an outdoor climbing centre, pickleball, an air gondola, a mountain coaster, high ropes, and a zip line.

If you’re asking me, you need more than just one day to take in all that Collingwood has to offer, so book a stay at Blue Mountain and get ready for an amazing summer adventure in the town that has it all.
