There’s a sandy Ontario beach known as the area’s best hidden gem

22 May 20252 Mins Read

An Ontario city with a little bit of everything to enjoy this summer, including South Niagara’s best hidden gem. Port Colborne can be found in the Niagara Region along Lake Erie, a waterfront city with sandy beaches to enjoy.

If you’re visiting Port Colborne in the summer, then a beach day is a must. The city is home to what it calls “South Niagara’s best hidden gem,” aka Nickel Beach.

According to Port Colborne, “With its pristine sandy shores, crystal-clear waters, and stunning views of Lake Erie, Nickel Beach is waiting to be discovered by beach enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.”

Not only does Nickel Beach have perfect conditions for a beach day, it’s also home to SplashTown Niagara, an inflatable water park ON the waters of Lake Erie, a great place to bring the family.

Nickel Beach isn’t the only beach option in this city, either.

Centennial – Cedar Bay Beach is another beach in the area, featuring two outdoor picnic pavilions, washrooms, tennis courts, volleyball courts, horseshoe rings and of course, sandy shores.

There are a couple of parking options at Nickel Beach, depending on whether you’re attending SplashTown or not:

Pay as you Park

  • Monday-Thursday: $20 + HST
  • Friday-Sunday & Holidays: $30 + HST

Advance Purchase Pass – Guaranteed Spot

  • Monday-Thursday: $40 + HST
  • Friday-Sunday & Holidays: $50 + HST

As for Centennial – Cedar Bay Beach, these are your parking options:

Daily Parking Lot Pass

  • Monday to Thursday: $20 + HST
  • Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Holidays: $30 + HST

Port Colborne is calling, Ontario.
