These are the best fall train rides to take in Ontario

14 October 20253 Mins Read

One of the best ways to enjoy scenic views in our lovely province is by embarking on a fall train ride. If you love jaw-dropping views, country charm, and vintage locomotives, you’re in for a treat.

From valleys to lakes to forests, we’re about to embark on a rail-bound odyssey through the most picturesque terrain in the province. Here are the best fall train rides to enjoy in Ontario.

This is one of the best ways to embrace Northern Ontario’s beauty and one of the most popular train tours in North America. The scenic, one-day Agawa Canyon Tour Train takes you through forests and into a large canyon.

Your adventure starts in downtown Sault Ste. Marie, at its train depot on 87 Huron St. The trip takes you on an almost 200-kilometre excursion, guiding you through the natural landscapes that make our province so stunning.

Experience this gem before it ends for the season.

Where: 87 Huron St., Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.

This operating tourist railway is located in the beautiful lakeside region of Port Stanley.

This railway hosts all kinds of fun and exciting events on board, like murder mystery train trips — perfect for the fall season. You’ll have to get your tickets for that experience ASAP, as it does sell out.

Where: 309 Bridge St., Port Stanley, Ont.

This railway will take you through the beautiful Beeton Creek Valley. The views are stunning and will be accompanied by fascinating commentary from your friendly conductor.

It’s important to note that fall colour advance tickets are sold out. There is a limited number of walk-in tickets available each operating day, when the ticket office opens at 9 a.m.

Where: Mill Street West, Tottenham

This heritage railway through the southern Ontario countryside is a trip worth taking.

You can take a ride on the Heritage Hopper for views of rolling hills of the Waterloo countryside and hop on and off the train at your leisure for more exploration.

Where: 330 Farmers Market Rd., Waterloo; 50 Isabella St., St. Jacobs

Enjoy these before the fall season ends!
