16 December 20253 Mins Read

Do you need to escape the winter in Alberta? We’ve got just the thing for you.

Everyone knows Alberta has an extensive list of cottages and cabins to run away to during the winter. We’ve decided to collect all the best ones for this season, just for your convenience. This list has a variety of cabins and lodges, as well as some Airbnbs thrown into the mix, just because we liked them so much.

Let’s not wait any longer; here are some of the best and coziest cabins in Alberta for this winter season.

The best and coziest cabins in Alberta

Mount Engadine Lodge

This isn’t just a lodge, but also a cabin and glamping area in Kananaskis Country, just south of Canmore and Banff. Here, you can get a view of the spectacular mountains and also have a luxury stay in seclusion.

Where: 1 Mount Shark Rd., Canmore, Alta.

Expanse Cottages

Expanse Cottages provides six hand-built self-contained cabins in beautiful Nordegg. Providing gorgeous views of the Rockies, these cottages are perfect for that private getaway during the winter. The views are really what set these cottages apart, with the most gorgeous forest and mountain lookouts.

Where: 305 Shunda Creek Rd., Nordegg, Alta.

Miette Mountain Cabins

Nestled in the historic Miette area of Jasper National Park, these private log cabins provide the perfect getaway in cold weather. With nature surrounding the cabin, you can get fully immersed in the wintery outdoors.

Where: Jasper, Alta.

Johnston Canyon Bungalows

These family-owned and operated bungalows are located at the trailhead of one of Banff National Park’s most iconic hikes. Ranging in size and amenities, these cabins provide the best quiet nights and romantic escapes.

Johnston Canyon is also home to a gorgeous frozen waterfall, which you might also want to check out during your stay.

Where: Banff, Alta.

Storm Mountain Lodge

Storm Mountain Lodge looks to not only provide excellent accommodation, but also excellent cuisine. As for the cabins, these stunning historic log structures are exactly what people think when they think about a classic Alberta cabin.

Where: Banff, Alta.

The Lumberjack Cabin

Over in Stettler, this Airbnb is the ultimate lumberjack-themed cabin. With a shared sauna, hot tub, and many more amenities, this small escape has a huge payoff.

Where: Stettler, Alta.
