These luxurious B.C. cottages feel straight out of ‘Heated Rivalry’

30 January 20265 Mins Read

If you’ve finished Heated Rivalry several times over and are craving a cottage stay of your own, this list is for you. Shane’s cottage might be in Muskoka, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t find just as luxurious or breathtaking a getaway right here in B.C. So, whether you’re itching for an Island visit or a road trip to the Okanagan, here are eight Airbnbs (all of which are Guest Favourites) that feel straight out of your fave hockey romance.

Large floor-to-ceiling windows? Check. Outdoor hot tub? Check. Gorgeous French doors that lead to an open deck? Double check. This Mayne Island cottage is in the top one per cent of Airbnb listings, and it’s easy to see why. Priced at $670 for the two-night minimum, this is a great spot to settle on if you’re looking for a slower island pace, over a dozen acres of forest surrounding you, and ocean views.

Where: Mayne Island

This stunner is the ideal place to forest bathe and unwind on the Sunshine Coast. The cottage itself is nestled on a hill that overlooks Sargeant Bay, and guests enjoy private beach access, a Scandinavian home design, a wood-fired cedar hot tub, and a separate cold plunge pool.

This is an extra spacious rental where visitors have the bonus of ample birdwatching opportunities, as Sargeant Bay is renowned for its variety of migratory birds, including spotted snow geese, sparrows, and warblers. At just over $1,000 for a two-night stay, this pick is a bit more of a splurge, but one that feels well worth it.

Where: Halfmoon Bay

This oceanfront one-bedroom is perfect for a couple hoping to make their escape to Port Renfrew. Guests enjoy front-row seats to the most stunning view of the surrounding ocean and forest. It doesn’t hurt that this top-rated Airbnb also has floor-to-ceiling windows to enjoy it all, or a private courtyard with a hot tub and fire pit. This spot also comes with a two-night minimum stay, with prices starting at $734.

Where: Port Renfrew

Another spot that gets plenty of natural light through its giant floor-to-ceiling windows, this rainforest retreat has “secluded oasis” written all over it. There are two acres of cedar and hemlock rainforest to roam, with the famed Pacific Rim National Park and Wild Pacific Trail just minutes away from your door. Ucluelet is a true bucket-list destination for nature lovers, with the best wildlife views in the Broken Group Islands and prime winter storm-watching.

The cabin also has a private hot tub and wood-burning fireplace to enjoy during your stay, which makes for a romantic way to start or end your day.

Where: Ucluelet

Nestled in the heart of La Casa Resort in Kelowna, this cottage is right on Lake Okanagan, offering guests panoramic views of the lake and surrounding mountains. Guests enjoy access to complementary paddle boards, a Nintendo gaming station, and a karaoke machine, among access to other resort amenities like heated swimming pools, hot tubs, water trampolines, and a private beach. No matter what your favourite pastime is, you’re more than likely to find it here.

Where: Kelowna

If you’re going for a staycation vibe over a specific destination, this historic cabin in the unincorporated town of Sorrento is your pick. Its upscale, rustic vibe is perfectly complemented by its location on White Lake, where guests can enjoy a quiet lake day, soak in the hot tub, and/or indulge in a wood sauna. If privacy and seclusion are top of mind, you’ll find this 100-year-old log cabin to be a quaint home away from home.

Where: Sorrento

Another Kelowna rental, this charming lakeside cottage has three bedrooms and two bathrooms to offer, as well as multiple lake sundecks, seasonal pools, hot tubs, tennis/pickleball courts, mini golf, and volleyball courts. It’s available 365 days a year, perfect for those who are activity-oriented but still want an escape from the hustle and bustle. Situated right next to a provincial park, the cottage has easy access to plenty of scenic hikes, mountain biking, horseback riding, and snowshoeing opportunities.

Where: Kelowna

This mountain cottage is in the top five per cent of homes listed on Airbnb, complete with an outdoor fire pit, a private sandy beachfront, and all the materials you need to have your own bonfire by Kootenay Lake. It’s only seven minutes away from downtown Nelson and all of its quirky shops, breweries, cafes, and dining spots, so if you decide you want to journey into town for a bit, you’ve got options.

Where: Nelson

Are you coming to the cottage?
