These Ontario cities just ranked as the best in Canada for quality of life

18 August 20252 Mins Read

Looking to make a move or just wondering where your city stands among the others in Canada? Global Citizen Solutions just released its list of the best places to live in Canada, based on quality of life factors such as employment opportunities, investments, retirement, and raising a family. A handful of Ontario cities made the list, and here are the ones that made the cut.

Ottawa

While the number one place went to Calgary, an Ontario city slotted in at number two: Ottawa.

According to Global Citizen Solutions, Ottawa is more desirable to people because of the lower cost of living compared to cities like Vancouver and Toronto. Their write-up also notes spots like the Byward Market, Parliament Hill, the Rideau Canal, and diverse restaurants.

Hamilton

Coming in at number five, Hamilton.

Known as the city of 100 waterfalls, not only is the city great for outdoor exploration, but the area is also said to boast a strong economy. The study notes that education, healthcare and manufacturing are particularly strong areas.

While it’s about a 45-minute train ride from Toronto, the proximity to the city also makes it a beloved place to live.

Waterloo

Waterloo takes place number 10.

As Global Citizen Solutions puts it, the city is “one of the mid-sized cities with a mix of modern amenities, excellent schools, and a well-developed tech industry.”

With multiple universities, it’s also a great place to settle down if you’re a student.

Toronto

Maybe I’m biased because I live here, but I did expect to see Toronto on the list, and alas, it came in at number 11.

While the cost of living is high, the access to restaurants, events, jobs, and diversity makes living in Toronto incredibly sought after.

The rest of the list can be found on Global Citizen Solutions’ website.

Do you agree with the Ontario picks?
