Third Time’s a Palace Charm for Beetlejuice the Musical – front mezz junkies, Theater News

3 June 20252 Mins Read

I guess the third time is a charm for Beetlejuice The Musical, which will return to Broadway when the First National Tour of the international hit musical comedy begins performances on Wednesday, October 8, at The Palace Theatre for thirteen weeks only.

The First National tour of the musical was launched on December 7, 2022, at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Theatre and is now in its third triumphant year. The tour will play a limited 13-week Broadway resurrection engagement at the Palace through Saturday, January 3, 2026. No casting has been announced yet.

Beetlejuice had two celebrated, unconventional, record-breaking Broadway runs generated by a new and very engaged Broadway audience thanks to TikTok, YouTube, and other social media sites, playing to sold-out, standing-room-only audiences in 2019 at Broadway’s Winter Garden Theatre and again in 2022 at the Marquis Theatre for a total of 679 Broadway performances.

The First National tour of the musical is concluding a critically acclaimed, record-breaking 88-city tour with one last Broadway resurrection at The Palace. In addition to the First National tour, Beetlejuice has played internationally in Tokyo, Seoul, and Melbourne, and is coming soon to Sydney.

Beetlejuice, based on the 1988 Tim Burton film, is directed by Alex Timbers (Broadway’s Just In Time), with catchy and smart music and lyrics by Eddie Perfect (Strictly Ballroom, King Kong), a solidly funny book by Scott Brown and Anthony King (Gutenberg! The Musical!), with choreography by Connor Gallagher (Off-Broadway’s The Big Gay Jamboree) and music supervision, orchestrations, and incidental music by Kris Kukul.

When it was on Broadway in 2019, frontmezzjunkes wrote: “Beetlejuice is full-throttled, riotous fun, and shouldn’t be missed, whether a fan of the movie or not.  Your heart won’t be twisted, but your funny bone will get worked out until death, just the way Beetlejuice would want it. And that’s a pretty awesome place and way to go in Tim Burton-land.” Click here for the review.

Nederlander, Warner/Chappell Music Inc., in association with deRoy Federman Productions/42nd.club, Mary Lu Roffe, Marc Bell & Jeff Hollander, The John Gore Organization, Ruth & Steve Hendel, Gabrielle Palitz, and Pierce Friedman Productions.
