This art crawl is bringing live painting competitions and a rooftop party to Edmonton

The Edmonton Art Crawl is going to be taking over five different venues this upcoming weekend, bringing along a variety of live art and music experiences to the downtown core.

If you want to get involved in the vibrant arts community in the city, the Edmonton Art Crawl is surely going to get you immersed. From jazz performances on rooftops to a whole Latin music festival, this art crawl is offering a load of unique adventures to explore throughout three exciting days.

What to know about the Edmonton Art Crawl

When is the Edmonton Art Crawl?

This art crawl will be coming to Edmonton starting Friday, Sept. 4 until Sunday, Sept. 6.

Where does this event take place?

The event will be taking over five venues in downtown Edmonton. This includes:

• O-Day’Min Park — 10150 107th St. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
• Carbon Graphics (parking lot) — 10159 108th St. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
• The Parks, CRU — 10135 108th St. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
• Uncommon Gallery — 9912 109th St. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
• Maccashom Loft (second floor) — 10301 109th St. NW, Edmonton, Alta.

What’s the best way to get to these spaces? Is there parking nearby?

The festival organizers recommend walking or transit where possible, but downtown street parking and nearby parkades are available for those driving. The City of Edmonton has a parking map you can use as well, regularly updated for those looking for spots, rates, or any other parking-related information.

What does the schedule include for the event weekend?

On Friday, Sept. 4, the schedule consists of:

• Youth Sound Lab by Secret Garden Studios at O-day’min Park from 4 to 6 p.m.
• Poetry Session by Heart of the City at O-day’min Park from 4 to 6 p.m.
• DJ sets by last.calltv at O-day’min Park from 7 to 10 p.m.
• Double Lunch at Carbon Graphics Parking Lot from 7 to 10 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 5, brings:

• Panel Discussion: Art’s Role in Community and Social Impact at The Parks from noon to 1 p.m.
• Live Art Painting Competition and Jazz Performance at The Parks from 1:45 to 4 p.m.
• Uncommon Gallery: Community Canvas with Glen and Friends at the Uncommon Gallery from 3 to 6 p.m.
• Inside the Chaos Lab: Private Studio Visit at Maccosham Loft from 7 to 10 p.m.

For the entirety of Sunday, Sept. 6, the festival will close off by bringing an all-day party atmosphere to Carbon Graphics with a Latin music festival. From 2 to 8 p.m., expect food, drinks, art, and live music.

Will there be food and drink?

At select venues, you’ll be able to find beer gardens (available for those 18 and over) and cultural food vendors. For those planning to go to the Jazz on the Rooftop at The Parks and the MACCOSHAM experience, there will be wine tastings.

What if it rains?

According to the festival, most programming has indoor or covered components. If there are any updates due to the weather, you’ll be able to find them on Eventbrite or on the event’s social media.

Are all of these experiences free?

All the experiences within the festival will be free for all. Select events will require registration (still free, mind you), which you’ll be able to do on Eventbrite.
