This Beloved 5-Season Feel-Good Comedy Is Leaving Netflix Globally This June

It’s time to say goodbye to the Kim family. Kim’s Convenience, the fan-favorite Canadian sitcom, is officially slated to depart Netflix in all regions globally on June 2nd, 2026, following its Canadian removal a few years ago.

For those who have yet to step inside the store, Kim’s Convenience is a heartwarming and genuinely hilarious comedy that follows the Korean-Canadian Kim family as they run a convenience store in Toronto. Starring Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (Appa), Jean Yoon (Umma), Andrea Bang (Janet), and Simu Liu (Jung)—before his meteoric rise in the Marvel Cinematic Universe—the show is widely considered one of the best binge-watchable comedies of the past decade.

The series has enjoyed a long and incredibly fruitful run on Netflix. Its journey with the streamer actually began back in 2018, when Netflix first licensed the global streaming rights and dropped the first two seasons of the CBC hit. That initial release helped catapult the charming, under-the-radar sitcom to an international audience, turning it into a massive word-of-mouth success story. Following that 2018 debut, Netflix essentially became the global home for the series, reliably treating international fans to new seasons on an annual basis shortly after they finished airing on Canadian television.

Netflix licensed many of CBC’s biggest hits throughout the 2010s, although it does so less so nowadays, at least on the licensing side. It does work as a co-distributor on titles like North of North, for example. Schitt’s Creek is perhaps the biggest example of a show that Netflix took global for the broadcaster, although that’s now departed from Netflix in almost all regions.

Sadly, the series came to a somewhat abrupt end back in 2021 after its co-creators departed the project, wrapping up the story with its fifth and final season.

So, why is the show leaving now?

As we’ve previously noted in our coverage of when Kim’s Convenience would eventually leave Netflix, the departure comes down to standard licensing agreements. Netflix typically licenses third-party shows for a fixed number of years following the addition of the final season.

As we reported at the time, the fifth and final season of Kim’s Convenience dropped on Netflix in the US and several other major regions back in June 2021. Now, exactly five years later, that overarching global licensing window has finally run its course.

Removal notices are now beginning to appear on the title card for subscribers around the world, confirming that your last full day to watch the Kim family’s antics is June 1st, 2026, with the title officially being pulled from the library on June 2nd, 2026. Because this is a global expiration, it will be departing virtually all regions, including the US, the UK, Australia, and beyond.

With 65 bite-sized episodes to get through, you have just under a month left to squeeze in one last binge-watch before the “Closed” sign is flipped for good on Netflix.

Will you be sad to see Kim’s Convenience leave Netflix? Did you first discover the show back in 2018? Let us know your favorite memories of the show in the comments down below!
