Long before his marriage to Megan Fox, Brian Austin Green was known as David Silver – heartthrob of Beverly Hills, 90210 and one of the defining teen crushes of the ’90s. Decades later, Green is opening up about how much things have changed since those years, and it turns out, he’s aging like a fine wine.

During the Thursday, July 16 episode of the “I Do, Part 2” podcast, a fan asked the now-53-year-old actor whether intimacy has improved with age, or if he finds himself missing his 20s. Green didn’t hesitate: things have gotten better, and it comes down to a shift in mindset rather than anything physical.

He explained that these days, he’s far less focused on his own insecurities and much more attuned to making sure his partner feels good – prioritizing connection over performance. It’s a notable evolution for someone whose personal life has played out largely in the public eye, from his marriage to Megan Fox to his current relationship with fiancée Sharna Burgess, with whom he says he now feels far more present than he did with past partners earlier in life.

Looking back on his 90210 heyday, Green admitted intimacy used to feel more transactional – something to get through before moving on to the next thing. He said he used to feel pressure to seem confident and polished, chasing an idea of “cool” rather than genuinely connecting with a partner, which he said only complicated things.

Now, he says his outlook is much simpler: it’s about being with someone he loves and wanting her to feel good, plain and simple. Even if life with kids means less time for it than he and Burgess might like. It’s a full-circle moment for the actor once known for playing one of TV’s ultimate teen heartthrobs – proof that maturity, apparently, comes with its own perks.
