This Edmonton art walk brings an outdoor gallery and a huge beer garden

18 August 20264 Mins Read

The Strathearn Art Walk is coming up soon in Edmonton, and it’s bringing its signature art market and music festival back to the river valley.

For three days this September, the Strathearn Art Walk will be taking over Edmonton before the summer wraps itself up. This free, family-friendly event focuses on bringing the community together through celebrating emerging, as well as professional, artists and musicians.

What to know before attending Strathearn Art Walk

When is the Strathearn Art Walk this year?

The art walk will be held from Friday, Sept. 11 to Sunday, Sept. 13.

Where is it held?

This event takes place in the parkland along Strathearn Drive, located between 89th Street and 91st Street.

What’s the best way to get there?

Parking near the festival site is not recommended due to the parking bans in place for emergency vehicles. There is also no on-site parking period. If you do decide to drive, the festival actually suggests using one of the designated Park and Walk lots.

As suggested by the festival, it’s encouraged to take public transit as the Strathearn LRT Station is only a 10-minute walk from the festival grounds. Otherwise, biking and scootering are also recommended, with the river valley trail system making it a stunning, eco-friendly commute.

How much does it cost to attend?

The festival and art walk itself is free to attend. If you’re looking to purchase art, food, or drink, it will vary in cost.

What goes on during the festival?

The main part of this event is the art walk itself, where artists display their pieces to sell while folks walk around the grounds and explore all the artistry. This includes an outdoor gallery experience, where you’ll be able to see work from different individuals everywhere you look.

There’s also a great lineup of talented performers taking the stage while folks explore everything the fest has to offer. From prestigious names to local legends, there’s going to be an artist for everyone.

Will there be food and drink?

A great selection of food trucks and local vendors will be available throughout the days, providing gluten-free and vegan options as well. The food options range from quick bites to full meals, so there are more than a couple of options for you to choose from.

The festival also acts as a site-wide beer garden during the day. This means you’ll be allowed to explore with a drink in hand before the festival transitions into a dedicated beer garden space in the evening.

Will there be free water available?

Courtesy of EPCOR, the fest will have free water refill stations around the grounds. The festival recommends bringing your own reusable water bottle to stay hydrated over the festival weekend.

What if it rains?

The Strathearn Art Walk is a rain-or-shine outdoor event.

Will there be safety and medical measures?

According to the festival, St. John Ambulance will be available on-site for professional first aid and medical support if needed. If you or someone else needs help during the festival, just approach a St. John Ambulance team member or visit the Information Tent for assistance.

Is the art walk dog-friendly?

The festival is dog-friendly; just remember to keep your furry friends on a leash and clean up after them.

When: Friday, Sept. 11, 2026 to Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026
Time: 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday (beer garden only); Noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday; Noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday
Where: Along Strathearn Drive (between 89th Street and 91st Street)
Cost: Free
