This Is France’s Most Beautiful Beach—And it’s Not in the South, Canada Reviews

16 May 20252 Mins Read

France has around 5,500 km of coastline, and along that, whether it’s a party stretch in Saint-Tropez or secluded spots in Bordeaux, there are some really lovely beaches – we’ve compiled a list of our 10 favourites here.

However, some insightful new research has just been conducted by cruise operator DFDS, which analysed more than 5,000 Google reviews and searched for keywords such as ‘clear water’, ‘tranquil’ and ‘picturesque’, to provide a handy list of lovely beaches, many of which are lesser-known.

Recommended: The Greek lagoon beach named the best in Europe for 2025.

Topping this roundup and claiming the crown as France’s most gorgeous beach? That would be Cap Blanc-Nez, a sandy stretch of coast in Calais, backdropped by rugged chalk cliffs and boasting crystal-clear water. The beach scored an impressive 90.2 out of 100.

The top three was rounded out by Grand Crohot, a wild, sand-dune surrounded beach in Bordeaux, and Riva Bella, which sits on the northern coast of Normandy and offers a peaceful alternative from more famous nearby beaches.

Not every inclusion is a tranquil little hideaway – at number eight is Pampelonne Beach, characterised by ‘beach clubs, beautiful white sand and boho vibes’ and one of ’s favourite beaches in France.

These are the most beautiful beaches in France

  1. Cap Blanc-Nez, Calais, Northern France
  2. Grand Crohot, Bordeaux, Southern France
  3. Riva Bella, Normandy, Northern France
  4. Conche of Whales, Ile De Rie, Western France
  5. Grande plage de Carnac, Brittany, Northwestern France
  6. Juno Beach, Normandy, Northern France
  7. Le Porge Océan, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Southwestern France
  8. Mala Beach, Nice, Southeastern France
  9. Pampelonne Beach, Saint-Tropez, Southeastern France
  10. Plage de Berck, Berck-sur-Mer, Northern France
