This Is the #1 Best Disney Cruise for Families in 2025, According to a Walt Disney Imagineer

After the holidays, many of us are looking ahead to the next big event or trip to look forward to. And if you’re leaning toward a New Year’s resolution that includes traveling more with your family, there’s one cruise ship, in particular, that a Walt Disney Imagineer recommends adding to your vacation plans.

Claire Weiss, who’s been an Imagineer for 13 years, shares the best Disney cruise for families in 2025 (even calling it their “palace at sea”), and reveals her favorite spot on the ship, as well as what she’s calling a “can’t-miss” activity on board.

The best cruise for families in 2025? This Walt Disney Imagineer says it’s the Disney Treasure—a new ship that began setting sail in December 2024.

“The Disney Treasure is our brand new ship in the fleet that’s really about bringing stories to life for everybody, and some of my favorite parts of the ship are how we’ve been able to bring iconic theme park attractions to life on our ships in ways we’ve never been able to do before,” Weiss explains.

One of the Best Spots To See on the Ship

Parents, there are plenty of spots on the ship that you’ll be sure to love—it’s not just a fun ship for kids!

“One of my favorite spots on the ship is actually the Haunted Mansion Parlor,” Weiss shares. “For those of you [who] are fans of our theme parks, you’re going to know the Haunted Mansion attraction—here, we’re actually bringing that attraction to life on board and you get to step inside that world. It’s got a bit of a nautical twist, of course, because we’re on a ship. You can actually grab a drink and be in this world for as long as you like. You would see hitchhiking ghosts, you might see Madame Leota conjured up in a seance, so really incredible, you know, out of this world experience. And it’s one of many experiences on board the ship that’s themed around some of our fan favorites from our parks.”

The #1 Activity for Families on the Disney Cruise Ship

“There are so many things to do aboard a Disney Cruise ship,” Weiss says. “One of my personal favorites are our Walt Disney theater shows. These are Broadway-style shows that debut in our theater and we actually have three different Broadway-style shows on the Disney Treasure specifically.” 

Not only that, the Disney Treasure is also debuting a new show: “The Tale of Moana.”

“[It’s] the first-ever stage-adaptation of the film Moana and I have to tell you, I saw it a few days ago and it is incredible,” Weiss says. “It’s all of the songs you know and love from the film, some brand new songs, and also just a really beautiful adaptation of the film, really true to the culture and for me? That’s where I’m going after dinner. So that would be one thing I’d definitely—can’t miss, I’d definitely recommend for you all to see.
