There are some marvellous restaurants in the world, and anyone who says you have to fork out for a brilliant meal is obviously yet to have their eyes (and tummy) opened to the beauty of street food.
But sometimes splashing out on a meal is the whole point, whether it’s for a celebration, a cheeky treat for yourself, or just because you happen to be absolutely ballin’. Luckily, there’s a tonne of bougie spots to choose from, and thanks to the team at Chef’s Pencil, we now know which are the most lavish.
They analysed more than 3,500 Michelin-starred restaurants to find out which are offering the spenniest tasting menus, and topping the ranks it’s Ginza Kitafuku, a restaurant in Tokyo which specialises in crab, where the tasting menu costs (take a deep breath) $2,130.
In second place, and at almost half the price – but with a tasting menu that still costs a whopping $1,230 – is Ultraviolet by Paul Pairet. The three-starred restaurant in Shanghai is described as a ‘theatrical, multi-sensory dining experience’.
The other eight restaurants all have menus that cost less than $1,000 (practically a bargain, right?) but the prices still range from $685 to $975. Read on to see where they are!
