This new Calgary festival is giving away $1,000 for the best cowboy look

27 July 20263 Mins Read

If you’ve ever wanted to combine a country concert, fair, and a rave into one summer outing, Country Club Festival in Calgary might be exactly what you’re looking for. The festival is making its Alberta debut with a full day of music, rodeo-inspired activities, and even a mechanical bull arena. For anyone who’s already missing the cowboy hats and energy that takes over the city during the Calgary Stampede, this event is bringing another chance to embrace that Western spirit.

So, what exactly goes down at a country-meets-rave festival? Let’s take a look.

What to expect at the Country Club Festival

Taking over The Confluence Historic Site and Parkland, Country Club is turning the venue into an open-air festival with interactive experiences, live performances from local talent, tequila tastings, and plenty of ways to get involved.

The music might be the biggest part of the party, with artists like VAVO, Dazy Duke, and MC4D bringing a mix of country and electronic sounds to the stage. And big-name artists won’t be the only ones taking the stage.

According to organizers, the Search for the Next Country Star competition will put a spotlight on the local talent, giving Alberta artists a chance to showcase their music in front of a festival crowd. Artists will compete for the title of Breakout Star of the Summer, and festival-goers can nominate their favourite local musician for a chance to see them take the stage.

Of course, the music is only one part of the experience. The day will be packed with Western-inspired activities, from trying your luck on the mechanical bull to jumping into Wild West festival games with friends.

Guests can also take part in line dancing lessons, grab a drink at the tequila tasting saloon, and check out the open beer garden and food market serving up favourites like BBQ and tacos.

And if you’re someone who loves dressing up for a theme, this is your excuse to go all out. The Best Dressed in the West context is calling on guests to show up in their best Western looks, and one lucky winner will walk away with a $1,000 grand prize.

Country Club Festival tickets and timing

The festival will take place on Sunday, Aug. 9 from 2 to 8 p.m. The 18+ festival has tickets available in different tiers, ranging from around $30 to $105. Tickets can be purchased online now, with early-bird pricing available for anyone wanting to lock in their spot right away.

So yes, the Calgary Stampede may be over, but the cowboy era doesn’t have to end there. Put on your best Western fit, dust off those cowboy boots, and get ready for the Country Club Festival, where country music, EDM beats, and rodeo-inspired activities are coming together for one unforgettable day.

When: Sunday, Aug. 9, 2026
Time: 2 to 8 p.m.
Where: The Confluence Historic Site and Parkland – 750 9th Ave. SE, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Starting at $30
