This Ontario trail has a view so magical you’ll feel ‘on top of the world’

13 June 20252 Mins Read

If you’re up for a bit of a challenge, this is for you! This scenic Ontario trail will reward you with panoramic views that are well worth the climb. Nestled in the heart of Muskoka, the Lions Lookout Trail may not be the easiest hike, but the sweeping vistas at the summit more than make up for it.

You’ll feel like you’re on top of the world, or so Discover Muskoka says.

Exploring Lions Lookout trail

It’s about a two-and-a-half-hour drive north of Toronto, located in Huntsville, Ontario. This viewpoint offers a panoramic view of the entire area, including the Muskoka River and Fairy Lake.

Per Destination Ontario, Huntsville has been dubbed “the adventure capital of Ontario”, and we can see why.

Not much of a hiker? There is a road that you can take to the parking lot at the top of the lookout, but be prepared for a steep drive.

The trail itself is about 1.3 kilometres long, with several inclines that will definitely get your heart pumping.

At the summit, you’ll find a charming red-roofed gazebo perched on a natural rock outcrop, which is perfect for catching your breath and soaking in the sweeping views of Muskoka’s cottage country.

You can even bring lunch and sit at one of the picnic tables at the top. Learn of its history via the signage that tells you about the area and how it has changed over the past 100 years.

This is a worthy road trip for all those seeking a nature-filled adventure.
