There are certain patterns that automatically remind you of a certain designer or brand. Take Burberry, for example—it’s famous for that beige tartan pattern with pencil-thin black, white and red stripes. A romantic, vintage motif of plump strawberries, leafy vines and flowers woven around colorful birds leads you right to Morris & Co.. And then there are few luxury throw blankets as iconic as Hermès’ tan and white checked blanket with the “H” initial adorning many of those squares.
Of course, as the old saying goes, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and you’ll often see riffs on many of these prints from other brands. And I can’t help but feel like Aldi just stocked the Aisle of Shame with a throw that takes some notes from that Hermès check.

While Aldi’s Halloween Collection Ultra Cozy Knit Throw in a pink checker colorway isn’t a direct hit, it definitely takes some cues from Hermès. This knit throw has a pink and white checkerboard print with outlines of friendly little ghosts in the opposite color of each square. These are made from a 100% polyester jacquard knit. This material tends to have a richer look than a basic printed fabric, and that knit construction gives it the kind of softness and flexibility. Still, it’s a wildly different feel than the wool Hermès uses.

How to Style It
Listen, if you want to keep your throw blankets piled in a basket or just haphazardly thrown on a couch—I’m firmly in that camp, too. However, if you’re having people over and want to “style” it like how you might see in a magazine, there are a few tips to make that happen.
Drape it casually over the arm or back of a couch for that I just tossed this here effect. You can also fold it lengthwise and lay it across the foot of a bed for an extra layer of color and texture, or keep it within easy reach of your favorite reading chair for chilly evenings. And, finally, for a little more styling drama, try letting one corner spill over the edge of an ottoman or bench rather than folding it into a perfect rectangle.
