This stargazing tour in Banff lets you experience the night sky in a whole new way

30 March 20262 Mins Read

There’s something about being underneath the stars that hits different, especially when you’re away from the city. Just outside Calgary, Into The Wild Tours offers a stargazing experience that lets you experience the night sky in a whole new way.

Far from the glow of the city lights, this tour gives you the chance to slow down, step into nature, and take in views of the sky that feel unreal.

About the experience

This five-hour guided experience is designed to feel slow and intentional, starting above Banff and making its way through some of the park’s quieter spots. As the evening continues, you’ll visit peaceful lakeshores and viewpoints, with plenty of time to take it all in.

From there, a short trip on a shuttle bus will take you to Lake Minnewanka, where the atmosphere shifts as night starts to fall. Here, your guide will share meaningful stories tied to the land, including indigenous perspectives and the area’s natural history.

The final destination of the evening is Two Jack Lake, where you’ll settle into heated chairs as you take in the night sky. With access to telescopes, binoculars and guided tools, you’ll be able to take a closer look at constellations and celestial features, turning the night sky into something you can truly explore.

To complete the experience, you can indulge in a complimentary hot chocolate or tea, as you take in the stillness of the moment.

Plan your visit

The stargazing tour will start in Canmore, where you will join your guide before heading out on a five-hour journey through Banff National Park. Since the experience takes place outdoors in the mountains, it is important to dress for changing conditions. Warm layers, including a jacket, long pants, and close-toed shoes, are recommended.

A stargazing experience like this offers a unique opportunity to see Banff after dark. With its thoughtful pacing and incredible views, it’s an experience that blends adventure with quiet moments under the stars.

Where: Miscow Close, Canmore, Alta.
Cost: $132 per person
