This three-day festival celebrating Black culture is coming to Calgary

19 February 20262 Mins Read

The annual Ethnik Festival of Arts and Culture kicks off in Calgary next week, dedicated to celebrating Black History Month. From artists to performers, get ready to celebrate Afro-Canadian and Caribbean communities through this immersive experience.

Festivities will take place from Feb. 27 to March 1, 2026, where the Ethnik Festival of Arts and Culture will showcase a “dynamic platform where art, history, and culture come together,” according to Tourism Calgary. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Black heritage and the contributions of the Black diaspora to Canadian society.

“Our mission is to inspire leadership and empower younger generations to embrace and express their authentic identities through the rich tapestry of Afro-Canadian and global art traditions,” shares Ethnik Festivals.

The Ethnik Festival of Art & Culture is a dynamic platform where art, history, and culture come together to celebrate Black heritage and the contributions of the Black diaspora to Canadian society. Expect an immersive experience that highlights local and international artists, performers, and thought leaders who bring the essence of Black culture to life.

Attendees can expect three days of celebration and connection through live performances from Teni, Plutus Band, Sewà, and Tea Fannie, just to name a few.

Also, be sure to catch a showcase by Carifest Dancers. All the events and festivities will be held on select dates, so be sure to check the schedule before attending.

Tickets are available for purchase online as well and start at $30.

When: Feb. 27 to March 1, 2026
Time: Varies depending on the day and event
Where: The Genesis Centre — 7555 Falconridge Blvd. NE
Cost: $30
