Toronto’s Earl Bales Ski and Snowboard Centre reopens this week, and if you’re looking to hit the slopes, here’s what you need to know for the season.
The popular winter destination opens on Jan. 7, 2026. The centre is Toronto’s only hot spot for skiing and snowboarding opportunities, located in North York.
“It’s fantastic to have skiing and snowboarding right in the heart of the city. I taught my two granddaughters to ski at Earl Bales Ski and Snowboard Centre,” shared Mayor Olivia Chow.
“It’s an exciting and healthy way to enjoy the winter outdoors. I encourage everyone to come experience it and make the most of our city’s winter activities.”
With affordable lift rates ranging from $21.29 to $40.65, it’s a great spot for beginners, especially those looking for lessons.
The centre also offers advanced instruction and access to both beginner hills and full runs for the more experienced.
Though the main and beginner hills will be open on Wednesday, the south and race hills will remain closed temporarily as crews work to build snow, according to the City of Toronto. Lessons are scheduled to begin on Jan. 21, 2026.
If youre interested in lessons, be sure to bring a helmet as they are recommended for participants of all ages.
“The reopening of Earl Bales is a great boost for our community, offering residents an affordable way to stay active, enjoy winter outdoors and connect with neighbours,” said Councillor James Pasternak. “This Centre has long been a gathering place for families, and I can’t wait to hit the slopes for another season.”
Are you itchin’ for a good snow day on the hills? We sure are!
