This train ride in Ontario has the most gorgeous fall views and is booking spots now

25 August 20253 Mins Read

All aboard! As someone who used to live in Sault Ste. Marie, this is one fall activity I cannot recommend enough. The Agawa Canyon Tour Train is a one-day experience that takes you through Northern Ontario’s beautiful wilderness, all lit up by fall colours throughout the Canadian Shield.

Tickets for this experience sell quickly, so if you want to guarantee a spot during the peak fall-colour season, you’re going to want to book yours ASAP.

“Sit back and enjoy the 114-mile excursion north, which truly showcases the rugged beauty of Algoma, and the Canadian Shield. At the Agawa Canyon, enjoy a 90-minute stop, where you can take in the sights, including a 30-minute round-trip lookout hike and a walk along the canyon to Bridal Veil Falls,” shares Sault Ste. Marie Tourism.

Each ride begins at 8 a.m. sharp, but it is recommended that all passengers arrive at least 30 minutes prior to departure. It’s a full-day experience, with the excursion ending around 6 p.m.

This train has no Wi-Fi, so put the phone away (unless you’re snapping photos) and enjoy the sights. You can expect to see views of flowing lakes, mixed forests and a towering canyon, which the train descends into.

Don’t take my word for how incredible the views are, though. Some of these sights were used as inspiration for Group of Seven pieces.

“The Agawa Canyon Tour Train will pass several sites captured by the Group of Seven, including The Solemn Land (based on Montreal River Harbour) and Algoma Waterfall (based on Bridal Veil Falls) by J.E.H MacDonald,” mentions the experience’s website.

Tickets are open for rides from now until Oct. 19, with adult tickets starting at $150 per person, $75 for children, and $120 for seniors.

Peak season for fall colours starts around Sept. 15, so plan accordingly.

Fall will be here before you know it, Ontario!

When: Tickets on sale from now until Oct. 19, 2025
Where: Departs at 87 Huron St., Sault Ste. Marie
Cost: $75 to $150 per person
