Red Fish, Blue Fish – Picture: Netflix
Rewind back to March 2022, and Netflix confirmed it was working on a slew of new Dr. Seuss adaptations, and beginning in late 2025, the fruits of those labors will begin to show on Netflix! Two shows and a special are due out later this year, and better still, one of the episodes for Red Fish, Blue Fish can be watched right now on Netflix.
Heather Tilert, who serves as Director of Kids + Preschool Original Series at Netflix, recently presented the three titles at a series showcase at the Annecy Animation Film Festival (full Annecy recap here). “Dr. Seuss characters are loved all over the world, so we’re very excited to be the home of this entire lineup,” Tilert said to a packed audience.
What shows were showcased, who’s behind them, and when will they be on Netflix? Let’s take a look at them one by one, but note that Dustin Ferrer is attached to all projects and was referred to as Netflix’s “Seuss runner” and series architect. Ferrer is best known for working on hit shows like Peg + Cat, Esme & Roy, and 3rd & Bird.
In addition to the titles listed below, all confirmed for release in late 2025, Netflix is also working on a 45-minute special for Thidwick the Big-Hearted Moose and a series for Wacky Wednesday.

Netflix is bringing Horton Hears a Who! to life once again, this time as a new animated series. The beloved Dr. Seuss story was last notably adapted in 2008 by 20th Century Fox in a feature film starring Jim Carrey and Steve Carell.
The official logline for this new series reads, “Horton follows the exciting and whimsical adventures of a young Horton and his best bud Samson as they go on adventures to help the citizens of the Jungle of Nool.”
Tilert explained the concept during her presentation, saying, “In every episode, Horton the elephant and his best bird pal, Samson, help an animal in the Jungle of Nool with an unconventional problem,” adding that Brown Bag Films has “done an incredible job bringing this cutie patootie to life.”
Dr. Seuss’s Red Fish, Blue Fish
Executive Producers/Developed by: Dustin Ferrer, Steven Conner
Animation Studio: Atomic Cartoons based in Los Angeles and New York (CoComelon Lane, My Little Pony: Mark Your Mark, OddBalls, Dogs in Space)
Based on One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, this series, with each episode comprised of seven-minute episodes, “follows the adventures of an odd couple of two fish friends as they explore and introduce opposite concepts.”
Suppose you want a taste of what’s to come. In that case, you can actually sample the first episode right now through the Summer Playlist Netflix launched (Playlists include a curated list of animated episodes from Netflix’s library for a limited time). Dr. Seuss’s The Sneetches
Executive Producer/Developed by: Dustin Ferrer
Animation Studio: Brown Bag Films
Finally, The Sneetches is coming to Netflix this Fall in a 44-minute-long animated special. The official synopsis reads, “Once upon a time, there were Star-Belly Sneetches and Moon-Belly Sneetches who lived together on the beach, until one day they decided they were too different to live together. So they went their separate ways. But then Stella, a Star-Belly Sneetch, met Pearl, a Moon-Belly Sneetch, and they realized Sneetches are Sneetches, and no one kind of Sneetch is the best on the beaches.”
“We think of this one as a great introduction to a kind of family movie night for kids aged 5 to 10,” Tilert said.
