According to aviation analytics firm Cirium—which analyzes flight data from more than 600 real-time sources (airlines, airports, global distribution systems, and civil aviation authorities)—Aeroméxico topped global rankings for operational performance. This means that a higher percentage of its flights arrived when scheduled (within 14:59 minutes of the scheduled gate arrival time) compared to competitors.

Specifically, the Mexican carrier maintained a 90.02 percent on-time performance, operating 188,859 flights across 23 countries. In second and third place were Saudia and SAS, with 86.53 percent and 86.09 percent, respectively.

In an industry still grappling with weather disruptions, air traffic congestion, staffing shortages, and aircraft delivery delays, snagging the top spot is no small feat. Aeroméxico is only the second airline to achieve consecutive global wins since Cirium launched the ranking program in 2009.

Aeroméxico operates from its primary hub at Mexico City International Airport, one of Latin America’s busiest and most complex airports. The carrier serves major international destinations across Mexico, North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia, including key routes to cities like New York, Madrid, Paris, and Tokyo.

A major factor behind the airline’s consistency is its fleet-modernization strategy. Aeroméxico has invested heavily in newer-generation aircraft, particularly the fuel-efficient Boeing 737 MAX and 787 Dreamliner models. These aircraft not only reduce fuel consumption but also improve reliability, helping minimize technical delays that can ripple across an entire day’s schedule.

Additionally, Aeroméxico’s membership in the SkyTeam alliance strengthens its global connectivity and operational coordination with partners like Delta Air Lines and Air France.
