Ashley McBryde has released a reimagined audio version of Toby Keith’s country classic “A Little Less Talk And A Lot More Action,” as part of a special tribute to the late country icon.
The female country powerhouse’s rendition of the track, which dropped on Friday, Nov. 21, is one of many songs that appear as a compilation of covers for “Apple Music Nashville Sessions: Toby Keith Covered.” Other artists who have teamed up for the project, delivering live sessions recorded at Apple Music’s Nashville studio, include Megan Moroney, Parker McCollum, Riley Green, Tucker Wetmore, and Ella Langley.
“So excited to announce my cover of ‘A Little Less Talk and a Lot More Action,’ honoring the legendary Toby Keith,” McBryde wrote on Instagram leading up to the release of the track. She also included a second video post days later, where she captioned: “Toby deserves to be honored each and every day, and I’m so happy I was able to do that.”
The Country Singer Put a Female Spin on the Classic Country Tune
McBryde’s take on “A Little Less Talk And A Lot More Action,” undoubtedly puts a female spin on the lyrics, which finds the singer searching for a distraction at a local bar, but ends up noticing all of the chaos at the establishment.
“A little less talk if you please / A lot more loving is what I need / Let’s get on down to the main attraction / With a little less talk and a lot more action,” she sings with conviction over a melody that stays in line with the original track.
Written by Keith Hinton and Jimmy Alan Stewart, “A Little Less Talk And A Lot More Action” was first recorded and released by Hank Williams Jr., appearing on his 1992 album entitled Maverick. The song was given new life by Keith in 1993 for his self-titled debut album and enjoyed success, reaching the No. 2 spot on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart, formerly known as the Hot Country Singles & Tracks Chart.
