Various different rankings have respectively celebrated and condemned Toronto Pearson International Airport over recent years, but the travel hub was just honoured for something that has nothing to do with flight delays or the stress level of its passengers.
Canada’s largest airport was recognized by Forbes as one of the best places to work in the country, alongside dozens of other Ontario companies.
The Greater Toronto Airports Authority, which operates Pearson, was ranked 107th on the esteemed list of the 300 best employers from coast to coast in 2025, and second in the category of Transportation and Logistics.
This marks a whopping 103-spot climb from last year when the GTAA was number 210 by the same metrics (and ninth in its category). In both years, it has been the only airport to make the cut.
The Chief Human Resource Officer for Pearson said in a release on Wednesday that this “personal best” for the brand is a result of diligent efforts toward constantly improving based on employee feedback.
Fellow Ontario names like OLG also moved up the list this year, now in the 255th spot, up from 282.
Other Ontario firms that now boast the title of one of the nation’s top workplaces — and appeared far higher up the list than Pearson — include The Hershey Company (ranked 5th and based in Mississauga), business law group McMillan (ranked 6th, located in Ottawa), the non-profit Canadian Institute for Health Information (9th, also in Ottawa) and Shopify (20th, Ottawa).
Crown corporations like the Bank of Canada (7th, headquartered in Ottawa), the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (11th, Toronto), Fisheries and Oceans Canada (13th, Ottawa) and Ontario Power Generation (17th, Toronto) also placed within the top 20.
The GTAA is headquartered in Mississauga and currently employs 1,745 people — and it’s also hiring for many different roles, as are the various companies that operate within Pearson to keep it running. But, previous job fairs for these positions show competition can be fierce.
For those seeking a job in the Toronto area, Forbes‘s new list, which features a ton of local employers ranging from Toronto Metropolitan University (32nd) to software company Autodesk (42nd), is a good place to start.
