Toronto is opening some outdoor pools early — Here’s where you can already swim for free, Life in canada

16 June 20253 Mins Read

The City of Toronto has officially opened a handful of outdoor pools ahead of schedule to help Torontonians cool off as temperatures increase over the coming weeks.

The early openings come after the City earmarked nearly $2 million in its 2025 budget to extend the outdoor pool season and operating hours.

As of Saturday, you can now use one of 15 outdoor pools opened early across the city. Just double-check the schedule before heading out, as hours vary by location.

And there’s more to come with the rest of the city’s 50+ outdoor pools, which are set to open later this month.

If swimming isn’t your thing, no sweat — Toronto’s splash pads are already up and running daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. And some wading pools opened early last weekend, too.

Select wading pools opening early for the summer will be open on weekends from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. from Saturday, June 14 until Sunday, June 22.

All remaining wading pools will be open by June 27 and will operate until August 31.

You can now add this to your list of things to do in Toronto this summer.

Here are the outdoor pools that are open now

  • Alex Duff Memorial Pool (Christie Pits)
  • Alexandra Park
  • Broadlands Community Rec Centre
  • Donald D. Summerville Olympic Pools
  • Gord and Irene Risk Community Rec Centre
  • Goulding Community Rec Centre
  • Halbert Park
  • Maryvale Park
  • McGregor Park Community Centre
  • O’Connor Community Centre
  • Pine Point Park
  • Riverdale Park East
  • Roding Community Centre
  • Sunnyside Gus Ryder Pool
  • West Mall Pool (Dennis Flynn Park)

These wading pools are open on weekends (June 14–22)

  • Coleman Park
  • Don Russell Memorial Park
  • Dufferin Grove Park
  • Eglinton Park
  • Halbert Park
  • High Park
  • Kew Gardens
  • Knob Hill Park
  • Prairie Drive Park
  • Rexlington Park
  • Riverdale Park West
  • Sir Casimir Gzowski Park
  • Summerlea Park
  • Wanless Park
  • Woburn Avenue Playground

Here’s the outdoor pool schedule in Toronto for 2025

  • Saturday, June 14: The 15 pools above are open with shorter hours. Weekdays: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. | Weekends: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, June 21: All outdoor pools open (shortened hours).
  • Friday, June 27: Regular pool hours begin citywide.
  • Sunday, August 31: Most pools close for the season.
  • September 1–21: The original 15 pools stay open. Weekdays: 4–7 p.m. | Weekends: 12–7 p.m.

Whether you’re hoping to swim laps or just float and chill, Toronto’s giving you plenty of ways to stay cool this summer — and the season’s already in full swing.
