A brand new No Frills opened its doors Thursday in downtown Toronto, and at first glance, it delivers.
Nestled on 77 Shuter St., right at the corner of Shuter and Mutual, Felice’s No Frills is a welcome addition to the area. While the store isn’t huge in terms of square footage, it makes excellent use of its space, stocking an impressive range of groceries in a compact layout.
Walking in, I was immediately struck by how spacious the produce section felt. Everything looked fresh, vibrant, and fully stocked — a strong first impression for opening day.

Next, the meat section caught me off guard — in the best way. The fridge was packed and neatly organized, from steaks and ground beef to whole chickens, pork, BBQ-seasoned skewers, and fish.

The bread section was noticeably larger than what I’m used to at other No Frills locations, and the snack aisle? Loaded. You’ll find all your favourites here: No Name, Lays, Cheetos, President’s Choice, Rustles, Munchies, Miss Vickie’s, Kettle, Tostitos — you name it.

Coffee lovers won’t be disappointed either. The selection includes both ground and instant options: Tim Hortons, McCafé, Starbucks, Lavazza, Nescafé, Maxwell House, and President’s Choice.

The variety of condiments is just as wide. You’ll find multiple brands of soy sauce, ranch, BBQ, honey garlic, sweet and sour sauces, and staples like mayonnaise, Italian and French dressing, Tabasco, and Sriracha.

Before heading out, I couldn’t resist grabbing something from the bakery. I picked up an apple turnover — it was incredibly fresh and delicious.

Checking out was quick and surprisingly high-tech. The self-checkout stations are sleek, fast, and user-friendly — a step from what I expected.
This new location is a fantastic addition to the downtown core near Queen, Shuter, and Richmond. The layout is intuitive, the aisles are spacious, and the selection is impressive.

If you’re in the area, it’s worth checking out — I think you’ll be just as pleasantly surprised as I was.
