A Toronto store known for its fresh seafood, pre-shucked oysters, and lobster rolls is gearing up to permanently close its doors after nearly nine years in business.
Beach Fish House, located at 1963A Queen St. E. in The Beaches is a neighbourhood seafood shop known for its wide variety of fish, pantry staples, and to-go meals like sushi and seafood chowder.
News of the store’s upcoming closure began to swirl on a community Facebook page this week after regular customers spoke with the owners. The shop’s owner, Tim Lee, confirmed to blogTO that the store will be bidding farewell to the neighbourhood at the end of the month, after failing to reach a lease agreement with the landlord.
Lee said that the shop plans to post an official farewell notice on its storefront next week to inform customers about the closure.
“It’s really heartbreaking to say goodbye to them, they’ve given us great support,” Lee told blogTO. “It’s so sad to be in this situation, along with some other mom-and-pop and individual stores in the community.”
Although the business’ time in the neighbourhood was cut short, Lee is choosing to focus on the positive side of the situation by thanking his customers for their “incredible” support.
Beach Fish House will not be relocating, and will officially close its doors on Nov. 30.
