Pool season is quickly approaching, and the city has just released its staggered schedule for the season.
Cue the warm weather because Toronto swimmers will be able to enjoy outdoor pools next month.
The first 15 public pools will open on Saturday, June 14, on a weekend schedule from 12 p.m. – 8 p.m., though the City has not yet announced which pools will be part of this initial rollout.
The City’s remaining 49 open pools follow suit a week later on Saturday, June 21.
Friday, June 27, is the official day when all 64 outdoor pools and wading pools open and operate on full-time hours.
If you’re looking to have some fun at the City’s 140 splash and spray pads, mark Saturday, May 17, on your calendars for the opening of the season, while beach bums can look to Saturday, May 31, for lifeguard supervision across 10 beaches.
Throughout May and June, the city will be working to open up other city and park amenities, including maintenance on drinking fountains and washrooms.
Most seasonal park washrooms and fountains will open for the season on Friday, May 2, while the remaining fountains, bottle filling stations and dog parks will open on Saturday, May 24 — unless more extensive repairs are required.
“We want people to enjoy the many amazing city parks for as long as possible when the weather outdoors is lovely. This means getting all the seasonal park washrooms and other water facilities ready right on time,” said Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow.
“I’m pleased that with our budget commitment, city crews have been able to get them ready on schedule again this year,” said Chow, adding, “We’re continuing to invest more resources so everyone can get the best of our beautiful city.”
