Toronto’s free New Year’s Eve celebration will be one of Canada’s ‘most exciting’

18 December 20252 Mins Read

Fireworks, dancing, music, all along the City of Toronto’s gorgeous skyline. What a way to ring in 2026, am I right? The City of Toronto has announced the lineup for its official New Year’s Eve celebration, and it’s being described as one of the “most exciting” in the country.

Oh, and it’s completely free to attend.

“Toronto residents and visitors are invited to welcome 2026 with a vibrant, free New Year’s Eve celebration along the city’s waterfront, featuring live music, dance, pop-up performances and a dazzling midnight fireworks display,” shares the City.

Let’s start with what people are likely most excited for: the fireworks. The fireworks show will span 10 minutes, starting at midnight and will be accompanied by music. You’ll be able to see the fireworks anywhere along the harbourfront, with the following areas suggested for optimal viewing:

  • Toronto Music Garden, 476 Queens Quay W.
  • Sherbourne Common, 61 Dockside Dr.
  • Sugar Beach Park, 11 Dockside Dr.
  • HTO Park, 339 Queens Quay W.
  • HTO Park West, 375 Queens Quay W.
  • Harbour Square Park, 25 Queens Quay W.
  • Harbourfront Centre, 235 Queens Quay W.

As for the festivities, there will be plenty.

Harbourfront Centre is set to be the hub where the main stage will be located. Here, guests can enjoy live music and hang out with the event hosts, Mayor Olivia Chow, Makayla Couture and Jessica Smith.

Winterfest will also still be on at Harbourfront Centre, featuring immersive light displays, seasonal drinks and treats, a giant Winter Maze and live performances.

To ensure everyone gets home safely, TTC and Go Transit have adjusted schedules, too. Subway service will run until 3 a.m., with the last trains leaving Union Station towards Finch Station at around 2:31 a.m. and towards Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station at 2:27 a.m. The Blue Night Network service, including buses and streetcars, will start at 3 a.m. and GO Transit, including the GO train, GO bus and UP Express, will be free from 7 p.m. on Dec. 31 to 8 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2026.

It’s going to be a fun night, Toronto. Be safe, and Happy New Year.
