Toronto’s getting a festival with humanoid robots and dragons

5 August 20252 Mins Read

Get ready, Toronto! The sixth annual Toronto Dragon Festival returns this month, and the Canadian Association of Chinese Performing Arts brings this year’s festivities to life with a fusion of tradition, technology, and imagination.

Head to Nathan Phillips Square from Aug. 29 to Aug. 31, and check out what the Toronto Dragon Festival has up its sleeves.

What to expect

According to organizers, for the first time, figures from Black Myth: Wukong and Chinese mythology’s iconic Nezha will come to life in thrilling, live-action performances.

The fun doesn’t end there. Expect humanoid robots and robot dogs dancing, interacting, and showing off their skills, along with dragons and lions. Talk about a dream come to life. It’s a wonderful showcase that merges ancient cultural traditions and tomorrow’s technology.

On top of that, other fun experiences include:

  • High-pole lion and dragon dances with acrobatics
  • Asian street foods
  • A Luminati Night Light Show
  • The Reflection Water Show
  • A high-fashion runway show featuring Canada-made, traditional, and ethnic designs

Also, be sure to check out the cultural booths for stories of tradition and vibrant performances from Indigenous, Asian, Caribbean, and other global communities.

Don’t miss out on this cultural experience.
