Toronto is set to host the FIFA World Cup next year — but you won’t necessarily need to spend big to feel part of the action.
Today, the City of Toronto announced that there will be a fan festival running throughout the whole of the tournament, located at Fort York and the Bentway on the west side of downtown Toronto.
The festival is designed to be a “global celebration of soccer, culture and community, designed for fans,” with free live broadcasts of matches throughout the tournament taking place in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
In addition to showing games, the festival also plans to have “diverse cultural performances, interactive installations and a variety of local food experiences.”
The festival will be open from Thursday, June 11 to Sunday, July 19, 2026, with exact details of opening hours and which matches to be shown at a later date.
“Fort York National Historic Site and The Bentway offer the ideal setting for Toronto’s FIFA World Cup 2026 Fan Festival,” Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow said in a release.
“This iconic venue reflects our city’s rich history while providing a dynamic space for fans to connect and celebrate their love of soccer, right in the heart of our city. We’re excited to welcome Torontonians and visitors alike to experience the FIFA World Cup 2026 in this memorable location.”
The location is just west of Bathurst Street and immediately to the north (and partially under) of the Gardiner Expressway.
Back in March, the City and MLSE launched details of a $146-million renovation coming to BMO Field, with six matches being played at the venue. Toronto is one of two Canadian host cities, with Vancouver also hosting seven matches throughout the tournament.
The opening match involving Canada will take place in Toronto on June 12, 2026, with the final game in Toronto being a Round of 32 match on July 2, 2026.
