Toronto’s getting a Malibu Barbie Cafe experience with a ’70s-inspired roller rink

8 July 20263 Mins Read

A Malibu Barbie Cafe experience is making its official Canadian debut this August. If you ever wanted to live your Barbie dreams in IRL, this is your chance.

Through a collaboration between Mattel and media experiences brand, Bucket Listers, the duo brings a Barbie-inspired fast-casual restaurant to the city. Mark your calendars for Aug. 13, 2026, as the limited-time experience will take over 70 The Esplanade with the ultimate Barbiecore wonderland.

“Bucket Listers is honored to continue partnering with Mattel, bringing the Malibu Barbie Cafe north to Canada after ten sold-out runs across the United States and Australia,” says Bucket Listers CEO, Andy Lederman. “Barbie has proven to be one of history’s ultimate icons. It means so much for us to bring these exclusive and iconic experiences to life, now in our third country and counting. We cannot wait for fans to see what we have in store.”

Not only is it a delicious dining experience, but it also features a roller rink and fun photo moments.

What can I expect at Malibu Barbie Cafe?

So let’s start with food. The specially curated menu was done by MasterChef finalist and Chopped champion Chef Becky Brown. You’ll get to enjoy a number of all-day favorites, playful desserts, and specialty beverages inspired by the Barbie brand.

Guests will also have the chance to shop for exclusive merchandise and even enjoy interactive activities.

“We are delighted to announce the opening of Malibu Barbie Café in Toronto, bringing a truly unique experience that celebrates the Barbie brand and all she represents,” said Julie Freeland, vice president of Global Location Based Entertainment at Mattel.

“At Mattel, we are always looking for exciting, new ways to bring the Barbie experience to life. From the décor to the menu, every detail has been thoughtfully designed to celebrate the iconic Barbie style.”

On top of the pop-up restaurant, there will be a groovy roller rink giving 1970s Malibu beachside energy. Dress vibrantly and get into the groove. And don’t worry, skate rentals will be available. Proceeds from each roller skate rental will be donated back to the Cafe’s charity partner, Girls Inc.

Expect special event evenings like Cupcake Decorating Classes, Paint Parties, and 21+ Skate Nights, too.
