Toronto’s getting a massive Asian market with over 95 vendors and a beer garden

29 April 20263 Mins Read

A huge two-day Asian owned market is coming to Toronto this May, in honour of Asian Heritage Month. With over 95 vendors, a wide array of live musical talent and a refreshing beer garden, the upcoming celebration is expected to be the largest of its kind in the city.

Toronto, mark your calendars for Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May 10, as Toronto’s largest Asian-owned market will take over Mel Lastman Square for a full-blown celebration.

In partnership with Toronto City Councillor Lily Cheng and the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto (CCCGT), The Welcome Market is launching its biggest venture yet. The now-expanded two-day Asian Heritage Month Celebration will showcase over 90 different Asian-owned small businesses, offering everything from food, retail, and art to drinks and vintage goods.

According to organizers, just last year brought more than 10,000 people in a single day. This year, over 40,000 attendees are expected during the weekend.

What can I expect to see at this year’s event?

Though the largest draw here is the vendors, there’s a lot more to experience. During the celebration, stop by the new beer garden and sip on drinks from Sapporo Canada, which will be serving Sapporo Premium Beer, its newly released Vodka Lemon Sour, and non-alcoholic beer.

Be sure to catch the live, on-stage performances too. Enjoy shows by local Asian talent such as traditional dances, K-POP dance groups (SeaGalz), singers/bands (Alice Li, Elyssa Plaza, The Placeholders), and so much more.

There’s also an adorable SUKOSHI Stamp Station and on-site appearances from SUKOSHI’s mascot, Mo. Satisfy that sweet tooth with an exclusive ice cream flavour collaboration with Ruru Baked and SUKOSHI.

With support from sponsors including T&T Supermarket, SUKOSHI, and Sapporo Canada, you can expect this celebration to not just be large in size but big on energy too.
