Toronto’s suburbs just got a huge new hangout with bumper cars, drinks and late hours, Life in canada

3 June 20254 Mins Read

Are you looking for fun things to do in Toronto that aren’t just geared toward children? There’s a new spot that might be right up your alley — literally.

A “first-of-its-kind” 25,000-square-foot entertainment venue has just opened in the GTA and it promises to cater to people of all ages.

Bowls & Blasters, located inside the Promenade Shopping Centre, officially launched on Friday, May 30. The multi-attraction space combines classic activities like bowling and laser tag with bumper cars and a large arcade, offering a variety of ways to spend a few energetic hours indoors.

It’s aiming to be a go-to destination for groups, families, and anyone craving some low-stakes competition and retro-style fun.

Bowls & Blasters was founded by Ali Chenari, a former art director with credits at Disney, Netflix, and DreamWorks. His goal? To fuse eye-catching design with interactive, immersive play.

The venue was designed to stand out as a unique entertainment hub for Thornhill and the greater GTA — especially during the chilly winter months.

According to its website, the space was created as a versatile spot for different types of gatherings, whether you’re “celebrating a birthday, planning a night out with friends, or simply looking for a way to spend time with family.”

Bowling fans will appreciate the setup here: there are 12 lanes, complete with lounge-style seating, blacklight effects, and laser projections. It’s a spacious setup that works well for both casual dates and bigger groups.

One of the venue’s major highlights is its multi-level laser tag arena. Bowls & Blasters describes it as offering one of the top experiences in North America, featuring eight different game modes, LED-enhanced gear, and a layout packed with props and tactical equipment for a more immersive match.

One of the standout features is the 360° bumper cars, where you can spin and crash your way through a designated arena. There’s also a synchronized laser show and music to add to the sensory overload, making it a full-on experience. And yes, bumper cars are still just as fun when you’re an adult.

There’s also a sizable arcade on-site, blending nostalgic classics with newer games. Whether you’re chasing high scores or just after the bragging rights that come with snagging a cool prize, it’s a solid way to round out your visit.

“We didn’t just build an arcade or a bowling alley,” said Ali Chenari. “We created an imaginative playground where families, teens, and adults can connect, compete, and let loose.”

Not into games or tagging it out on the laser field? Bowls & Blasters also has an on-site dining area with a sports bar — a handy spot for parents at kids’ parties or anyone looking to grab a bite.

Bowls & Blasters is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with extended hours on Fridays until 1 a.m. Weekend hours kick off earlier — from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturdays and 10 a.m. to midnight on Sundays.
