Trader Joe's Picnic-Ready Snack Returns, and Fans 'Can't Stay Away'

10 May 20262 Mins Read

A number of timeless side dishes go great with burgers and hot dogs for any given summer cookout, including perfectly seasoned potato chips.

It’s easier said than done to have French fries on hand when grilling during a certain time of the year — and luckily, Trader Joe’s has its customers covered as a fan-favorite snack returns to the shelves.

The Patio Potato Chips usually surface this time of year in preparation for summer, and die-hards have already taken to platforms such as Reddit to spread the word.

“The return of a legend! Patio Potato Chips spotted in Philadelphia,” one fan titled a thread this past week, for example. “These patio chips are fire, I can’t stay away!” a Redditor commented on it, while another person humorously wrote, “I would do unspeakable things to have a grilled hot dog with some of these crumbled on top.”

“Back again for another year of fun in the sun, and in the totally rad spirit of the backyard patio, this greatest hits collection of picnic-ready ridged potato chips is comprised of four distinct flavors: Sea Salt & Vinegar, Delicious Dill, Homestyle Ketchup, and Smokin’ Sweet BBQ,” reads Trader Joe’s online description of the popular item.

The blurb continues, “Separately, each chip is an exquisitely evocative simulacrum of hearty backyard cuisine. Together, they’re a symphony greater than the sum of their summery parts: the sweetness of the Homestyle Ketchup plays off the delightfully sour edge of the Sea Salt & Vinegar, while the classic Smokin’ Sweet BBQ harmonizes perfectly with the savory and aromatic Delicious Dill. All told, all four chip varieties together conjure the taste of a glorious barbecued hamburger.”

And as popular items return to shelves, Trader Joe’s continues to roll out new food options. Last month, fans began seeing what’s called a Breakfast Bowl in their stores’ frozen section. Learn all about the $3.49 product here.
