‘Tuesday Night Titans’ Wrestling Drama in Development at Netflix

A brand new wrestling drama from the former WWE Raw writer, Michael Notarile, and Wicked director Jon M. Chu is reportedly in development at Netflix. Titled Tuesday Night Titans, the series is in early development and is centred on an ambitious writer and her estranged friend, who is hired from the indies as a jobber into the world’s biggest wrestling promotion.

Deadline has reported that Netflix is in early development with a brand new wrestling drama, Tuesday Night Titans. The series was created by Michael Notarile, who previously worked as a writer for WWE’s Monday Night Raw wrestling brand. He will also serve as an executive producer on the series, alongside Wicked director Jon M. Chu and Caitlin Foito, through Chu’s production company, Electric Somewhere.

For the past six months, Netflix has hosted Monday Night Raw, and outside of the US, select territories have been able to stream Friday Night SmackDown, NXT, and Premium Live Events live. While the WWE is not directly related to the new series, it appears that Netflix is further committing to wrestling content.

It is worth noting that fan-led campaigns are currently ongoing for Netflix to renew Heels for a third season. However, suppose Netflix is moving forward with brand-new original programming. In that case, it’s looking increasingly likely that Heels will not return for a third season on Netflix and may need to look elsewhere to save the show.

What is the plot of Tuesday Night Titans?

The story is reportedly set in the modern day, where a writer at a prestigious wrestling promotion puts her neck and career on the line when she recruits her estranged childhood best friend, who performs as a “jobber” on the independent circuit. Their destinies are now entwined, as they both strive for the same promotion they idealized in their youth; however, the pair must now contend with ambitious colleagues, their demons, and exist in a world where kayfabe bleeds into their lives, both in and out of the ring.
